Built for Velocity

Your customers order from their phone. It lands in Velocity.

Order-Point gives every customer their own ordering app, trade accounts and the public alike, with their products, their prices and your cut-offs. Every order goes straight into Velocity, so nobody types it in again.

  • Uses the customers, products and prices already in Velocity
  • Branded as your business, on your own web address
  • Phone, tablet and desktop. Nothing to download from an app store

Orders arrive by phone, text, email and scribbled note.

Someone writes them down, someone types them into Velocity, and someone finds out at 6am that "the usual" meant something else. Order-Point turns every one of those into a tidy order your customer placed themselves, against your cut-off, in Velocity before you open.

How it works

Three steps, and Velocity stays in charge

  1. 1

    Velocity shares what it knows

A small service on your Velocity PC sends up your products, customers, prices and offers, and keeps them in step through the day. Change a price in Velocity and the app shows it.

  2. 2

    Customers order from your site

Each customer signs in at yourbusiness.order-point.com and sees only their products at their prices, with the delivery or collection dates you actually offer.

  3. 3

    Orders drop into Velocity

Every order comes back down into Velocity with its lines, weights and notes. You get an email, they get a confirmation, and the order is ready to pick.

Watch it work

An order in under a minute

Most trade orders are the same things as last week. Order-Point is built for that: the usual items are at the top, quantities remember what they were, and the basket is never lost.

  1. Pick from their own list Their products, their prices, grouped the way you sell them.
  2. Choose a date Only the delivery or collection days you offer, with the cut-off stated plainly.
  3. Place the order The order number shows straight away. It is the same number you see in Velocity.

For your customers

Quicker than a phone call, and nothing gets misheard

Cafés, restaurants, shops, your own branches and members of the public order in minutes, whenever suits them.

Their products, their prices

Each customer sees the catalogue and prices Velocity holds for them, offers included. Or hide prices completely for branch-to-central ordering.

The usual, in a tap

Usual items rise to the top, past orders can be repeated, and a regular weekly order can be saved and placed again.

Weighed goods done properly

Order by the piece, by weight or by portion size, with the estimated total shown and clearly marked as an estimate.

Only dates that work

Delivery days per customer, collection days, lead times, cut-offs and closed dates. A customer can't pick a day you can't do.

A basket that survives

Lost signal, a closed tab or a flat battery: the basket is still there when they come back.

Reminders that help

A nudge before the cut-off if an order was started and not sent, and a reminder before a collection is due. You choose whether they're on.

Looks like you

Your name and logo, on your own web address, with emails sent in your name. Customers can add it to their home screen like an app.

AI order assistant

Or they just tell Mabel what they need

Customers type or paste an order the way they'd say it down the phone. The assistant finds each item on their own price list and sets it out to check, and nothing goes in the basket until they say so.

  1. Write it their way "20 steak and ale pies, 5kg chicken breast, 2 dozen pork sausages".
  2. Check what Mabel found Each line shows the product it matched and what they said, with any guess spelled out.
  3. Add it to the basket One tap, then on to checkout as normal.

Name the assistant after your own order desk: Mabel on one site, Sandra on the next.

The public, sign-up and Christmas

The public sign themselves up. Christmas runs on the same site as the rest of the year.

Order-Point isn't only for trade accounts. A QR code by the till lets anyone sign up and order in a minute, and a Christmas order has its own products, its own dates and its own deadline — with no second website to run.

Sign up by the till

  • A poster by the till, or a screen. Print the QR poster from the admin centre, or leave the sign-up page open on a tablet by the counter. Customers scan it, put in their name and email and the code they're sent, and they're ordering. No staff involved — unless you'd rather approve each sign-up first.
  • An ordinary Velocity account. Sign-ups go into Velocity like any other customer, marked as public in Order-Point so trade and public are easy to tell apart.
  • See who's on board. The admin centre shows how many scanned, signed up, put the app on their phone, and ordered.

Kinds of order, not a second website

Some butchers run one website for Christmas and another for the rest of the year. Order-Point runs both as kinds of order on one site: the everyday one, and a Christmas one with its own product list, its own dates and one deadline.

  • Christmas products stay for Christmas. A turkey in the Christmas range isn't offered in a Tuesday order, unless you say it should be.
  • Its own dates and its own deadline. Pick the delivery and collection dates and when ordering closes. Your everyday cut-offs and days don't get in the way.
  • Its own link and QR code. Put it on a poster or a post, and a teaser tells customers when Christmas orders open.
  • One login, a basket for each. A customer can have a Christmas order on the go beside their weekly one, and every order says which it is — in Velocity too.
  • Collect from more than one place. The shop, a second shop, or a village hall for a week, each on the dates you choose, with a hand-over list for the day.
  • Next year in one tap. The same dates a year on, the same products, switched off until you've checked it.
  • Know what to prepare. Velocity's production reports tell you how many turkeys, pigs in blankets and joints you need.

Card payments

Take the money before you cut

Ask for a deposit on the orders that need one, and leave everything else exactly as it is. You choose which kinds of order carry one — a deposit belongs on the Christmas turkeys, not on Tuesday's mince.

  • The money is yours, straight away. It goes into your own Stripe, Square or SumUp account. We never hold a penny of it, and the card details never touch Order-Point.
  • A deposit, or the whole thing. A flat amount or a percentage — and for members of the public you can take the full amount up front, as long as nothing in the basket is sold by weight.
  • Phone orders too. Take the order as usual and email them a link to pay. The order is held until the money lands, and the admin centre lists everyone you're still waiting on.
  • Short of something? Refund it. If you can't supply what they paid for, the admin centre works out what you owe them and sends it back to the same card.
  • Nothing is written until it's paid. An order with no money behind it never reaches Velocity, so your production sheet only has real orders on it.

The ordering app on a tablet, with the order and the delivery date on one screen

For your team

Take phone orders straight into the same app

Your sales and office staff sign in and order on a customer's behalf. They pick who the order is for, and the customer's name stays in view the whole time so nothing goes on the wrong account.

  • Order for any customer. Search by name or account code.
  • Add a new customer on the spot. Take their first order straight away. Order-Point creates the account in Velocity for you.
  • Made for tablets. On a tablet the order and the delivery date sit side by side on one screen.

The shop floor

The counter and the van have an app of their own

Handing an order over is a different job from taking one, done by a different person on a different device while they're standing up. So it isn't buried in the ordering app — it's its own app, and it goes on the home screen like any other.

  • Today's collections, at a glance. Who's coming for what, how many are still to collect, and a search for when there's a queue. Scan the code off their phone and the order comes up.
  • Tell them it's ready. One tap emails the customer to say it's packed and waiting — and never on the wrong day, if you've made it up the night before.
  • Mark it short while you're picking. If you're out of something, say so at the block. The customer is told before they set off rather than at the counter.
  • The driver's round, in drop order. Each delivery in the order the van does them, the address opening the phone's own maps, and a tap to say it's been left.
  • Your staff, not your customers. The same logins as the admin centre. A customer's login is refused at the door.

Questions

What people ask us

Do I need to change anything in Velocity?

No. Order-Point reads the customers, products, prices and offers you already keep in Velocity, and sends orders back into it. We install a small service on your Velocity PC and set it up with you.

Do my customers need to download an app?

No. They open your web address on a phone, tablet or computer. On a phone they can add it to their home screen, and it opens full screen like an app.

Can each customer see different products and prices?

Yes. Each customer sees the products and prices Velocity holds for them. If you use Order-Point for ordering between your own branches, you can hide prices altogether.

Can members of the public order too?

Yes. Order-Point isn't only for trade customers. Members of the public sign themselves up from a QR code in the shop or a link on your website, and they're ordering in a minute; or your staff can add them. You can have each sign-up approved first if you'd rather. It comes into its own at Christmas: orders arrive weeks ahead for the dates you offer, and Velocity's production reports tell you how many turkeys, pigs in blankets and joints to get ready.

Do I need a separate website for Christmas orders?

No. Some butchers run one site for Christmas and another for the rest of the year, with two lots of logins and two lots of orders to type up. In Order-Point, Christmas is a kind of order on the same site: its own product list, its own delivery and collection dates, one deadline, and its own link and QR code for the posters. Customers sign in once, keep a Christmas basket beside their everyday one, and every order goes into Velocity marked with which it is. When it's over, one tap sets it up for next year.

If I take a deposit, who holds the money?

You do. You connect your own Stripe, Square or SumUp account and the money goes straight into it — Order-Point never holds it, and we take nothing on top of the provider's own fee. Card details never reach us either: the customer pays on the provider's page, not ours. If you'd rather not take card payments at all, leave it switched off and nothing changes.

What if a customer rings in their order instead?

Your staff can place it for them in the same app, and even add a brand-new customer while they're on the phone. If that kind of order carries a deposit, they email the customer a link to pay it — the order waits until the money lands, and the admin centre lists everyone you're still waiting on.
